Pink oyster mushrooms are commercially cultivated worldwide. Our pink oyster is a phenotype of the Pleurotus djamor variety that shipped and adopted in the New Zealand habitat a hundred years ago. We use substrates containing natural NZ pine tree wood chips with a percentage of soybean hulls added as their nutrition source.

Mushborn grow kits produce the healthiest organic, delicious and high-nutritious mushrooms. Watching mushrooms’ fast development is refreshing and fun and can reduce anxiety and stress. Our customers often mention how much they have learned and enjoyed as their mushrooms develop. Few said they replaced their one or two meat-based meals with their own-grown oyster mushrooms. Oyster mushrooms contain dietary fibres, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and polysaccharides such as beta-glucan, known to have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties.

The mushroom substrate is packed in a breathable plastic bag to keep the mushroom mycelia humid and out of contamination. The substrate bag contains everything for mushrooms to develop and grow; they don’t need any fertiliser. We do not use any chemicals, insecticides or herbicides. Instead, we cook our bags of substrates for about two hours under pressure to eliminate any possible contaminations before sealing the bags for inoculating or introducing mushroom mycelium to the substrate.

Growing environment:

The kit should be placed in a good air-exchange and light-filled environment (out of direct sunshine) and misted regularly with a water mister to maintain humidity. The first mushroom clusters will be ready for harvest in seven to ten days. In two-three months, you should be able to harvest approximately 500 to 800 grams of mushrooms.

Oyster mushrooms properly colonise and fruit at temperatures between 18°C and 25°C, they require fresh air ventilation, and a humidity of around 65-85% is optimal.

Absolutely love the product however packaging could have been more subtle as it was a present and was found by the person it was for.
